Preserving living heritage with Dr. Miroj Shakya

We recently sat down with Dr. Miroj Shakya to hear about the work he’s doing with University of the West and Nagarjuna Institute of Buddhist Studies.

In conjunction with ALL, Dr. Miroj and his team are conducting our first combined image-and-input preservation project, centered around the Dharani texts of Kathmandu’s Newari community. These texts are part of a ritual that’s been passed down for centuries, keeping timeless wisdom alive in the world on a daily basis.

Dr. Miroj Shakya serves as Director at Nagarjuna Institute of Buddhist Studies in Kathmandu, Nepal. He is also Professor of Religious Studies at University of the West in Los Angeles, California.
