CMB-Gandentegchenling (Ganden) Monastery Library Collection
The Project aims to digitally preserve the CMB-Gandentegchenling Monastery Library Collection. This involves extensive cataloging work as well as the digitization and archiving of texts at Ganden Monastery, thus safeguarding and making accessible important materials in perpetuity. ALL and Gandentegchenling Monastery Library initiated a formal partnership in 2022 which will include comprehensive training and the digital preservation of the library’s collection.
The Gandentegchenling Monastery Library holds manuscripts dating back to the 13th century onward. Approximately one million manuscripts and 200 woodblock prints are held in the current collection, many of which pertain to the five minor and five major Buddhist subjects.
The collection that exists today is a key facet of Mongolian and global heritage.
