SAFEGUARDING THE CULTURAL LITERARY WISDOM TRADITIONS OF THE WORLD FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS
The Asian Legacy Library is a global non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of valuable cultural wisdom literature from around the world. We leverage technology, scholarship, and collaboration to locate and digitally preserve priceless works from ancient Asia. Our collections are then made accessible and free to scholars, translators, authors, and communities worldwide. Our goal is to keep these teaching traditions alive in the world for current and future generations.
Central to our mission, the Himalayan and Inner Asian Collection focuses primarily on Buddhist sutras and accompanying commentaries. Our preservation partners have located thousands of volumes of these cultural treasures, which we are now digitizing and cataloging to incorporate into our library. The primary focus of the Asian Legacy Library to date has been on Tibetan Buddhism – in particular the Gelukpa tradition. Our preservation partners have located rare and incomparable treasures that have since been translated for the modern world.
