VARANASI PRESERVATION CENTER

Indology Classics Input Society

Mission

The Varanasi Center is dedicated to preserving the rich cultural, religious, and intellectual heritage of India by digitizing ancient manuscripts and texts. Located in one of the oldest cities in the world, Varanasi, also known as Kashi, the center aims to safeguard Hindu and Buddhist traditions that have flourished here for centuries.

History

The Varanasi Center was founded on April 2, 2005, by the renowned Sanskrit scholar Pt. Nand Kishor Dwivedi, with Dr. Santosh Dwivedi now serving as the director. The center began its work with the digitization of the world-famous Sanskrit dictionary “Shabdakalpradurm,” written by Radhakantdev Bahadur between 1828 and 1858.
