The Asian Legacy Library (ALL) is proud to collaborate with Resources for Kanjur & Tanjur Studies (rKTs), a project dedicated to making Tibetan Buddhist canonical collections openly accessible. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to preserving ancient wisdom and advancing scholarship through technology.
The rKTs platform, developed by the Tibetan Manuscript Project Vienna (TMPV) at the University of Vienna, is a vital resource for scholars, offering online catalogs, searchable e-texts, and a vast archive of Tibetan manuscripts. By integrating data from over 100 Kangyurs, Tengyurs, Tantra collections, and related texts, rKTs serves as a hub for canonical literature research.
ALL has contributed its e-texts of the Narthang Tengyur to rKTs, enabling scholars to search this monumental collection in full. This addition is especially valuable, as the Narthang Tengyur includes texts not found in the widely studied Derge Tengyur. The e-texts were painstakingly produced under ALL’s direction over seven years, with manual input carried out by female experts in three centers located in Tibetan communities in South India.
This collaboration is a step toward greater accessibility and innovation in Buddhist studies. The next phase of the rKTs development will align the Narthang Tengyur with the Derge Tengyur, allowing researchers to easily compare these editions and facilitating deeper comparative studies.
At ALL, we remain dedicated to preserving the vision of ancient masters by integrating diverse traditions and fostering partnerships that make wisdom accessible to all. Through collaborations like this, we ensure that the profound insights of the Buddhist canon are available to scholars and practitioners worldwide.
